On Wednesday, I needed to drive Katie to run some errands in the morning and then to see a doctor about her foot in the early afternoon. In between, I shopped for some sundries (toothpaste, shaving cream, and deoderant had to go at the airport) and took a nap. After I dropped her off at home in the afternoon, I drove to Coronado Island and south to Silver Strand State Beach.
After that I walked around the Seaport Village area and had a fantastic lunch at the Harborside Grill. I ordered a half dozen oysters and the crab cakes appetizer.
After lunch I wandered around a little bit and stopped in at the bookstore. Then I drove back to Brian and Jen's house and had dinner with the family. Isabelle called while we were eating dinner and I called her "babe" ... Matthew overheard this and said, "What's your babe say?" hahaha!
After dinner, Brian and I went to Hamilton's Tavern and Michael met us later. We played shuffleboard all night and had a blast since they had a 22 foot shuffleboard table on which we could play for free. This was a novel experience for me, but I really had a good time. Another novel experience was the Flander's Red Ale that I ordered for everyone. Not realizing this was a "sour beer" I just got the best looking thing on the menu (read: most expensive) and hoped for the best. It was probably not the best. The sourness was evident as it tasted almost like apple cider vinegar. Looking past the sour, it had a slightly fruity taste. I didn't like it that much, but didn't hate it either. The other beers I had were excellent, but I don't recall what they were. There was a Newcastle Brown Ale in there somewhere...
